This philosophy accepts the universe as consisting of two independent realities- Purusa and Prakrti. Of these two, Purusa indicates the Self and Prakrti signifies the ultimate ground out of which the manifold world evolves. In the Naradiyapuarana there is the description regarding the concept of Prakrti and Purusa, the two co-present and co-eternal realities of samkhya philosophy. Through this paper a modest effort is made with a view to present a comparative study on the concept of Prakrti in the samkhya philosophy and in the Naradiyapuarana.
